9 Ways to be More Innovative in your Business

Being successful in business requires you to stay interesting to your target market. One of the best ways to do that is to remain innovative. That’s easy to say but how do you do that?  In today’s blog post, I am going to share 9 ways to be more innovative in your business.

Let’s Dive In!

Surround yourself with inspiration

When you are surrounded by the things that inspire you, it’s a lot easier to come up with your next great idea!  Inspiration can come in many different forms…everything from music and art to quiet time on a walk or even in the shower – I get most of my best ideas in the shower – LOL! Mostly because it’s a lot less likely for me to be interrupted there.

Watch your customers.

Pay attention to how they react to your products or services and pay even closer attention to what they say. You can get some great insight from them and what you can do to stay innovative.

Embrace difficulties and complaints

This is where innovative gold is hidden!  Whenever you encounter a difficulty or a complaint, it is usually a clue of where you can improve a product, service or process.

Ask your staff

Your staff are the people on the front lines. They are the one who are dealing with products, services, and customers first hand. Listen to their ideas and suggestions. You will be amazed at the ideas that will surface.

Collaborate and mastermind with others in your industry

Join a network of supporting businesses in your industry. Plan regular get-togethers, meetups and meetings to exchange ideas. These can either be in person or online. When you meet other people in your industry and start sharing ideas you will be able to apply innovative strategies to your business efforts. Not sure where to find groups like this?  Facebook is a great place to start looking. There is a group for almost anything there. Some Facebook groups focus on local areas while others have no borders.

Watch the competition

See what they are doing, and then improve upon it. Don’t copy or plagiarize, instead, put your own creative spin on the idea so it fits your business and aligns with your goals.

Listen to podcasts

Podcasts are really popular right now. More than likely you will find one that falls into your niche. Tune in and start absorbing new trends and ideas surfacing in your niche.

Make sure you are reading

Never stop learning. Books are a great way to expand your knowledge, learn from others, and get ideas for your business.

Find a mentor

Social media is great for this. Search for people both inside and outside of your niche that you look up to. Follow what they are doing and begin to apply their techniques, ideas, skills, etc. to your life.
