Business Growth. It’s what every business owner, entrepreneur, sales person, etc. wants for their business. Why? Growth gives a sense of accomplishment, allows you to earn more, and let’s face it. It’s exhilarating! When you figure out how you can grow your business, it’s a like taking a shot of adrenaline. It’s such a rush and you can’t wait to do it again to see how far you can get and what you can achieve. But, when your business isn’t growing, it gets stale, life gets hard…and stressful. If that’s where your business is right now, own it, and make a change. Use the 5 ways to grow your business in this blog post to help you get over the hump.
Let’s dive in!
Take a look at your overall business and scrutinize every stream of income and the amount of time you spend on it. Identify those streams of income that aren’t profitable, are difficult to sell or make little money for you. Then determine what your results would be if you spent more time on the items that are doing well in your business. Would it make sense to push the pause button on the low or no income items and really pour yourself into the things that bring in the money? What would your business look like if you did that – if your focus was a little more intense?
One of my favorite quotes is: “The Riches are in the Niches!” When you “niche-down” your business and serve a specific audience, you earn authority and are often coined as the “go-to” person for the product or service you represent. If you are trying to serve to everyone, you will serve no one. Why? Your message will be too broad and general which will result in no one responding to it. Take time to think about who it is you really want to serve.
Your business needs it. Lots of it. Once you determine who your ideal audience is, it’s time to get their attention! Create content that builds on the notion of people doing business with those who they “know, like, and trust.” What type of content can you create to allow people to get to know you, like you and trust you? A few of my favorite outlets for doing this is through:
- Email Marketing
- Social Media
- Freebies, samples, digital downloads
- Video (both live and pre-recorded)
If your business is in a place where it has stalled, take a look back at your business when it was growing like crazy. Reflect back on the activities you were participating in during that time. Are there some activities that you pulled back on because you got too busy? Maybe it’s time to revisit those activities and put them back on the calendar.
This is probably not the most exciting or sexy tip, but, it is probably the most important! Do you know how many sales you are leaving behind just because you didn’t follow up? LOTS! Take the time to follow up. Did you know, 80% of all sales take a total of five follow-ups in order to close them? Yet, many salespeople don’t even attempt one follow up. Imagine how different your business would look if you just took the time to follow up.
