Nurture Your Network!

Last week we talked about the 3 ingredients you need to build your network.  This week, let’s build on that!

business-1219868_960_720Each week you work at building your network.  You go to meetings, meet new people and collect new business cards.

That’s great but let’s take a moment and dig a little deeper…

Here’s a networking exercise for you:

Quick – list your TOP 5 most powerful connections.  These are people who are movers and shakers in your world and who really make things shine for you and your business.  These are the people you can count on making things happen for you.

Now that you have your list of 5, make a list of what you have done for each one of those people lately.

Think about…

  • When was the last time you called them just to say hi or check on them?
  • Have your referred to them?
  • When was the last time you had coffee together?
  • Have you asked what you can do for them lately?

How long was your list of things you have done for them lately?

Nurturing relationships is where the magic happens…

Once you make connections and build the relationships, it is important to nurture the relationships.

That’s not how it works at all.  It’s all about the relationship you build, your character and how you take care of your contacts.  The most important thing you can do in the networking relationship is think of the other person first.  What can you do for them today, who can you connect them to and how can you make them better?
